Terms and Conditions of Use
The term “Care2Save” or “us” or “we” refers to the owner of the website.
The term “you” or “user” refers to the user or viewer of our website.
The Care2Save website (www.care2save.co.uk) and toolbar is owned and operated by Care2Save Trading Ltd (company number 08493472) whose registered address is:
Care2Save Trading Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Care2Save Charitable Trust which is a UK registered charity (1151546) which supports hospice and palliative care by running projects solely devoted to generating new income for charities.
Care2Save enables you to generate charitable donations when you shop on-line using the participating sites of your choice. From the commission Care2Save Trading receives on your purchases, a cash donation equal to 80% of that commission will be distributed to your selected cause and to all causes that are selected by users. All causes supported by users will receive the funds raised in a scheduled quarterly payment. By using our services you have the opportunity to buy the products and services that you need AND chose a charity to benefit from 80% of the commission we earn. The remaining 20% of this commission goes to the Care2Save Charitable Trust.
These Terms and Conditions of Use may change or be updated from time to time. It remains your responsibility to access and check these Terms and Conditions of Use whenever you access the Website. The latest version of these Terms and Conditions of Use will govern any future usage by you of the Website.
By registering with us you, as a user, are accepting our Terms and Conditions of Use.
The aim of these terms is to describe the services that we provide to you through the website (www.care2save.co.uk) (“Website”) or via the toolbar downloaded from the Website.
You should note the following:
- Care2Save is used via the Website (or the toolbar downloaded from the Website) for online shopping that sends a percentage the commission generated by your purchases to your selected cause. Care2Save works with thousands of retailers websites to offer you your favourite products while supporting the charitable cause of your choice.
- There is no cost to you, and no cost to your cause.
All transactions you make are not with us, but with the individual retailer. Any defect or fault with the goods purchased is the sole responsibility of the merchant from whom you purchased the product. Care2Save cannot accept any liability for goods purchased by you from affinity sites.
Amounts raised for causes
The Care2save Website and toolbar allows you to raise funds for any charity registered with the Charity Commission in England and Wales, the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator or the Charity Commission of Northern Ireland (Registered Charity) or a Good Cause that has been accepted by us for registration (see below).
After you have registered on the Website and selected your chosen charity or Good Cause, you can raise money when you make a purchase through the Care2Save website. As a Care2Save user you may earn a percentage donation from a number of retailers as illustrated on the Website.
Charities and Good Causes can have similar names: it is your responsibility to check that you are donating to the organisation you intended.
The donations you earn from affiliate sites (retailers and other on-line commerce sites) are distributed to your selected cause on a quarterly basis provided the monies are received by Care2Save from the retailer.
In the event that you return the item purchased to the retailer, the retailer will not pay us commission so no donation will be made to your chosen cause. Please remember that a donation can only be earned when you click through to a retailer’s website from a link on the Care2Save Website or by utilising the toolbar. Some retailers may not pay commission for repeat purchases on their site; we have no control over this. All commissions are variable.
We cannot be held responsible if the retailer fails to report your sale to us. Retailers have their own rules, upon which they determine transactions to be genuine, i.e. an attempt to simply earn money by clicking/registering with no intention to continue to use/buy from their website could be deemed as non-genuine. These rules may or may not be advertised by ourselves or the retailer and may be discretionary.
Whilst we will endeavour to recuperate non-payments from the retailer, the decisions by us, the retailer or retailers tracking agent is final. Whilst we will try and recuperate missing commissions, at any point we reserve the right not to chase missing commission payments, particularly where no purchase is made. If missing payments are paid later by the retailer then we will pay the donation over to your chosen charity. We will always pay donations where money has been received from a retailer and tracked to your UID provided your account with us remains active, your transactions are deemed by ourselves and the retailers to be genuine and you meet the terms of the payment to the retailer.
Care2Save reserves the right to reclaim or make balance adjustments accordingly where it has been established that any credit has been applied in error. This will include but is not limited to transactions where the credit is not genuinely due or payment for any credited transaction has not been received from a merchant or its agencies.
How we allocate money
Once you register with us you are given a Unique ID Number (UID). This number is passed to retailers when you visit them. If you make a purchase, this UID number is returned back to us and we then use that number to tie the donation to your chosen Charity or Good Cause.
We donate 80% of the commission raised by your on-line shopping to your chosen charity or Good Cause. The remaining 20% is donated to the Care2Save Charitable Trust to support palliative and hospice care in the UK and globally.
If you wish to donate to a cause that is not a Registered Charity (“Good Cause”), then you will have to arrange for the Good Cause to be registered with us. A Good Cause means an identifiable grouping of more than one person having a common interest, whether an unincorporated or incorporated association, a charitable body, a firm or partnership, a company or any other organisation or body and is not a Registered Charity. A Good Cause may not be an individual acting on his own behalf although we may accept registration from an individual who intends to benefit a charity or other Good Cause by his actions. A Good Cause needs to be registered with us in order to become eligible to receive donations. Care2Save may accept an application to be registered as a Good Cause but it is under no obligation to do so and any application may be rejected or terminated at our sole discretion. Care2Save can refuse to disclose the basis upon which any decision to refuse registration of a Good Cause was made.
Care2Save shall have no duty or responsibility to investigate or ascertain if:
- the applicant representing the Good Cause is authorised or otherwise empowered to make the application on behalf of the Good Cause;
- the Good Cause (as described by the applicant) exists in the terms described or at all.
Decisions on whether an application to be registered as a Good Cause will be made within 7 working days of the application being received. Once we have notified the applicant that the application has been accepted, we will endeavour to ensure that supporters may utilise the Website within 24 hours to generate donations for the Good Cause.
Care2Save reserves the right to suspend or terminate any of its obligations to a Good Cause without notice, either temporarily or permanently as it sees fit and remove its name from the list of available causes listed on the Website. We may also end any agreement between itself and a Good Cause in circumstances where a user supporting the Good Cause has breached any of these Terms and Conditions of Use. Immediately on terminating or suspending a Good Cause we shall notify the Good Cause that the agreement has been terminated. In such circumstances, the Good Cause shall still be entitled to receive donations generated by purchases that had occurred prior to termination.
In the event that a Charity or Good Cause ceases to operate or becomes de-registered before all of the monies raised or donated can be sent to them, their outstanding payment will be distributed to a charity or charities at the discretion of Care2Save.
The license to use this site can be terminated at any time without notice.
